Crooks and Liars censoring any mention of the Kucinich Bill to Impeach Cheney

LibertyVideos.org
April 28, 2007

You would think the folks at Crooks and Liars would jump at the chance to talk about Kucinich introducing a bill to Impeach Dick Cheney. But they actually censor the very mention of it in a little comment. WHY?

I'm assuming that since Pelosi has said "Impeachment is off the table" Crooks and Liars has taken that stance along with the party. It's as if they can't think outside of Party lines. It's that "You're either with us or against us" and "Us versus Them" mentality.

I have seen on numerous occasions comments getting edited or out right deleted even though they weren't derogatory. They are free to do as they please but I find it interesting they'll talk about missing emails but not the fact Kucinich introduces a bill to impeach Cheney.

Below are the comments from the following comment thread from the April 27th Open Thread...

http://www.haloscan.com/comments/crooks/100116725

If you scroll down you'll notice there is no comment at 1:25 am because they deleted it. Although if you go to 1:43 am there is a reply to the comment that was made at 1:25 am and also another reply to that at 3:13 am. I have included unrelated comments for context and I have the related comments in Bold.

offline for a couple of weeks and all i really missed was C&L and DemocracyNow.

the only news i missed that really shook me was Kurt Vonnegut's passing. i learned of it in a Bangor newspaper while stopped over there.
-now my host here in the wilds of wooly caribou, maine, has loaned me a copy of 'A Man Without A Country', KV's last and most recent (2005) book. while i'd unwittingly read much of it already -excerpted in many places on the web -to peruse it in it's glorious entirety is ...well, i's a must-read. superlatives fail. i am just grateful he got it out before passing from this life.

nice to be back, heck yeah. greetings to mr. amato and all at C&L, and johnx and those others here who may not know me from adam but whose comments and presence make this a good place to be.

Oil is running out. Sure there will still be oil 100 years from now but it will cost $1000 a barrel. Our economy is based on drive to work. If nobody besides the rich can afford gas then our economy will grind to a halt. Thus, I have come to the conclusion that the real reason we invaded Iraq was to secure the oil reserves and ensure their transport to the USA at cheap prices over the next 25 years. As only Iraqi oil will give us enough time to transition away from oil without killing our economy. So I ask you...if this is the real reason we invaded Iraq...should we ever really pull out of securing the oil in Iraq? What if pulling out of Iraq means that in 20 years there will be so little oil available that it will cost more to get to work than your job can pay you?

"A group of about two dozen House Democrats from energy-rich districts are reviving an informal working group designed to provide a moderating voice in upcoming global warming and energy discussions. Lawmakers and aides from such states as Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Utah held a preliminary meeting Wednesday with oil, gas, petrochemical, refining and other industry lobbyists." Excerpted from National Journal's Congress Daily, Wednesday, April 25, 2007

MoveOn's calling for people to contact these Representatives and let them know that selling out to Big Oil isn't appreciated. I don't have a full list, the email just names the one from my state. I guess being a Democrat for Torture wasn't enough for Jim Matheson, he's got to be a Big Oil shill, too. Even the Democrats in Utah suck.

The flaw in your premise is that the country will not or cannot change it's energy economy in the next 20 years. This is false.

Just anecdotally, for most of the history of Eurasian civilization, we've had an animal-based energy economy. It wasn't until the 19th century that that changed, with the addition of fossil fuels. Only since (roughly) 1930 has civilization had an oil-based economy, and only since 1951 have we had nuclear energy in the mix.

The point is, now is the time to transition to zero-carbon fuels and biofuels. It's a big step, though, and I wouldn't look to the current Loser-in-Chief to be able to take us there.

 rEdRuM,

i am talking about the US Dollar. i am talking about peak oil causing inflation and a depression. i am talking about how oil is the lifeblood of all the improvements over the last century. when that life blood is gone our economy will go to hell. I am talking about the dirty secret that Iraq is the solution to save our economy for another 20-75 years. alternative energy is a must but takes time...the vast majority of cars run on gasoline and there is only so much oil left in the ground. that oil took millions of years to form. when it is gone it is gone.

I'm busy installing a new backup opysys, just done all the moving around the files to make room for it.

But before I install the new opsys, I thought I'd write:

AN OPEN RESPONSE TO MARK GREEN -

Mark Green -
> ... Our lineup combines the best of proven radio stars like Randi Rhodes, Thom Hartmann, Rachel Maddow and The Young Turks along with new programming that broadens and deepens Air America's reach ...

Mr. Green, the best proven radio star you have is Sam Seder. You have the new Air Americans hosted by Mark Riley. Whilst I like the guy, all you're doing is reminding me that he was never as *entertaining* as when he had Marc Maron as a co-host. And you remind me that Rachel Maddow was never as entertaining as when she was teamed with Chuck D and Liz Winstead.

And if you think I'm gonna be listening to it instead of Mike Malloy in the evenings on NovaM radio, I have a feeling that you're sadly mistaken. Yes I will podcast it, but it's not the same as listening to a show live.

> When people ask what Air America 2.0 means, they'll hear the answer on May 21.

Let me expain something to you Mr. Green. The past two weeks of Air America (let's call it Air America 1.99999) has been the two most boring weeks of radio I've ever heard on AAR.

Here's how you can prove your progressiveness, Mr. Green. Admit you made a mistake and correct it. Bring back Sam Seder for 3 hours a day on weekdays and you'll prove yourself better than say, a George Bush.

Sincerely,

Stanley Rosenthal, Bellaire Texas

RE: The point is, now is the time to transition to zero-carbon fuels and biofuels.

biofuels are better for the air but are less efficient when it comes to MPG. also they are less practical. there is only so much land to grow corn. we have to eat some. hydrogen costs a ton to produce, store and ship. anyways the only alternative energy source that will ever replace gasoline is good old electricity. hopefully fueled by a massive solar cell array. that is the only true 0 emission source of energy. the sun is the only real answer. who needs cold fusion when you have the sun staring you in the face.

I think we invaded Iraq to transfer as much wealth as possible to organized crime. Why is war profiteering completely off limits as a subject? Does it really cost $500 mill a day to support whatever, 150K troops? $3k/soldier per day? Why is Bush and the repubs allowed, over and over, to equate spending the money with supporting the troops without being questioned how it's actually being spent, by the press, by dems, by anyone? We know those guys who killed JFK didn't just dry up and blow away-- they're probably all over financial services, pharmaceuticals, and defense.

Why isn't the idea the Iraqi Parliament is thinking about a TWO MONTH VACATION a HUGE ISSUE in the traditional media? How can Dubya veto the timeline if the Iraqi Parliament is PLANNING on a TWO MONTH VACATION! TROOPS OUT NOW!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp...ml? hpid=topnews

"Sen. John W. Warner (R-Va.), who has criticized Bush's war policy but opposed the Democratic bill as too heavy-handed, singled out one development that has stoked a more cooperative spirit on Capitol Hill: word that the Iraqi parliament may recess for two months this summer.

"That would send a very bad signal to the world that they don't have the resolve that matches the resolve of the brave troops that are fighting in the battle today," Warner said."

Uh, yeah... OUTRAGEOUS!

WASHINGTON - A State Department report on terrorism due out next week will show a nearly 30 percent increase in terrorist attacks worldwide in 2006 to more than 14,000, almost all of the boost due to growing violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, U.S. officials said Friday

http://www.realcities.com/mld/ kr...shington_nation

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her top aides earlier this week had considered postponing or downplaying the release of this year's edition of the terrorism report, officials in several agencies and on Capitol Hill said.

Vortex, if all of the energy pioneers in this planet's history had taken that attitude, we'd still be waiting for someone to discover fire. The transition will occur over the next fifty years, not tomorrow. The idea is to begin now, with the technology we have now and develop it, going forward. Eventually, it will become it's own self-sustaining industry, like every other viable technology that has been invested in. The problem has been those who, for various reasons, work to discourage such investment.

As this transition takes place, it has a ripple effect of altering our social habits, expectations, laws and governmental policies. And that will include foreign policy. We don't need Iraqi or any other oil if that's not what fuels our vehicles and power grids.

Visited my Congressional Representative's local office today and urged them to support the articles of Impeachment.

One staffer gave me a funny look, but the others seemed to generally appreciate the fact that I took time to show up personally.

I made sure they took down my comments to which I expect to receive a form letter, but overall it was a very worthwhile experience because I doubt they read C&L, but at least for one day, they got to hear somebody talk shit about Cheney to their faces.
