Olbermann: Coverage of GOP Reps Asking Bush for Honesty

Thursday May 10, 2007

At the time of this posting, NBC news has been disclosing the remarkable details of a meeting between eleven GOP congressmen, who told the president he must be more honest and forthcoming on the Iraq war. One told him, "My district is prepared for defeat" in the war, and he was also told that neither he or Cheney should speak publicly about the war's progress, citing no credibility from this White House. Powerful stuff, which the Washington Post's Dana Milbank called "a turning point." Time will tell, but it's obvious that bipartisan support for the war is now waning.
